Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected. Prior to submission, author(s) are required to check that their submissions comply with all of the following items:

  • The manuscript has not been previously published, nor is it currently being considered for publication in another journal or any other forms of publication.
  • The manuscript is formatted and referenced in accordance with the manuscript guidelines.
  • The manuscript does not contain any identification of author(s). The author(s) information should be provided in the Title Page submitted as a separate file.
  • Author(s) are required to obtain necessary permission for reproduction of any figures, tables or extracts from other copyrighted sources.
  • All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author.
  • Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Please prepare your manuscript in accordance with the instructions for authors provided below before submitting it online. The manuscript may be a research paper or a review paper. It should be written in English and contain between 6,000 and 10,000 words.

Use of word processing software

It is important that the file be saved in the native format of the word processor used (.doc or .docx). Please use the journal template for preparing the manuscript. 

Article structure

  • Title: it must be concise and has correlations to the main ideas and findings.
  • Abstract: It must be concise, containing objective, methods, results, discussion, and impact. Abstract should be less than 250 words.
  • Keywords: It must contain maximum 6 keywords, relating to the main objective and results.
  • Introduction: It is a mandatory to explain the objectives of the work, as well as an adequate background, a literature review, a summary of the results.
  • Material and methods: It is a mandatory to explain sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced.
  • Results: Results should be clear and concise. Explain tables and figures.
  • Discussion: This section must be supported by comparison with theory and previous studies. It is a mandatory to put references.
  • Conclusion: It must be about 5 sentences and must be correlated to the abstract and objective.
  • References: Author(s) must use APA system for references. We strongly suggest author(s) to take reference from article journal (not other) if it is possible.

Additional information:

  • Nomenclature and unit: use the international system of units (SI).  
  • Math formulae: equations must be editable text and not as images. Add number for math formulae.
  • Tables: must be editable text and not as images. Add number and caption.
  • Figures:  must be set in line with the text and include appropriate numbering and captions. Figures should have a resolution of no less than 300 dpi.

Retraction

The papers published in the  Indonesian Journal of Science and Technology (IJoST) will be considered to retract in the publication if:

  1. There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct, such as data fabrication, or honest error, such as miscalculation or experimental error.
  2. The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification, including cases of redundant publication.
  3. The article constitutes plagiarism.
  4. The article reports unethical research.

The mechanism of retraction follows the Retraction Guidelines of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) which can be accessed at https://publicationethics.org.

Withdrawal of Manuscripts

The author is not allowed to withdraw submitted manuscripts, because the withdrawal is a waste of valuable resources that editors and referees spent a great deal of time processing submitted manuscripts, and works invested by the publisher.

If the author still requests withdrawal of his/her manuscript when the manuscript is still in the peer-reviewing process, the author will be punished by paying $1000 USD per manuscript, as a withdrawal penalty to the publisher. However, it is unethical to withdraw a submitted manuscript from one journal if accepted by another journal.

The withdrawal of the manuscript after the manuscript is accepted for publication, the author will be punished by paying $1500 USD per manuscript. Withdrawal of the manuscript is only allowed after the withdrawal penalty has been fully paid to the Publisher. If the author doesn't agree to pay the penalty, the author and his/her affiliation will be blacklisted for publication in this journal. Even, his/her previously published articles will be removed from our online system.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
